  • New reading books

    Dear parent,

    We have invested in a large number of new books to increase the pupils’ interest in reading and to motivate them into practising their reading at home. Sadly, due to the cost of these books,  if your child loses it  then we will ask you to pay the full retail price so that we can replace it.  We ask for your support to ensure that books are returned please. Many thanks.

  • Parent Governors vote

    Voting slips will be sent out this week for the 2 candidates who would like to be Parent Governors. Please can you read each candidates application and tick the box for  the person you would like to vote for. Return to school in the sealed brown envelope provided before Monday 18th February at 4pm. Both candidates have the opportunity to speak to you in the school hall early this week. Please come along and hear them.  Details  to follow.
  • Exciting News

    We are delighted to announce that we have a new member of the Maes Y Morfa family. Mr Neville  Wilshire, best  known  for his TV  series ‘ The Call Centre’  and ‘The Indian Call Centre’, will be coaching our Maes Y Morfa football club, every Tuesday after school. A successful semi-professional footballer himself in his younger days, Nev  is full of enthusiasm and ready to work with our pupils to develop and extend their skills. This is the start of a great deal of opportunities for Maes Y Morfa school and we are very excited about the possibilities for the future with Nev’s support.

  • Parents of Y2 pupils

    This term year 2 will be following the 'Street Detectives' theme.
    We will be:-
    Following routes around our local streets.
    Taking photographs of buildings,houses and various landmarks.
    Looking at photography will help us spot any similarities and differences between today and the past.
    Studying and drawing maps, creating models of local buildings.

    Home/ school task
    Please could you and your child time your journey to school and write it down. This then can be brought to school (no later than Thursday 17th January).
    Once every pupil has returned their findings we will look at all the various timings and create a graph. The pupils will then have the opportunity to create a graph using HWB.

  • Holidays in May

    Please avoid booking holidays between 7th and 13th May due to the national curriculum testing week. As one of the tests introduced is online this year , it is even more important that your child is in school between these dates. The 6th May is a bank holiday and school is closed on this day.

  • Christmas Disco

    To be held this year in school - 

    Straight after school for infants: nursery to Y2 until 4pm
    4.15pm - 5.30pm for juniors. Y3-Y6

    Admission 2.50  - could infants bring the money into school in the morning and juniors can pay when they arrive? No tickets.

    This includes : visit from santa and photo as well as a drink, disco and party games.
    Snacks and Christmas decorations made by the pupils can be purchased on the night.

    All pupils must be collected from school as the evenings are very dark now. Many thanks
