Keep up to date with all the news happening in school at the moment.
Dear Parent/Carer
The Education Minister Kirsty Williams has confirmed that Foundation Phase primary children can return to school for face-to-face learning after February half-term. Coronavirus cases are continuing to fall across Wales which allows us to start planning for the return to school in a phased and flexible way, starting after February 22 with children in Reception, Y1 and Y2. Nursery pupils will return at a later date, when it is safe and less confusing to do so.
Please be assured that the safety of both pupils and staff is our main priority, and we will be reviewing the health and safety measures we have in place and any additional measures that may be needed.
It will take some time before all pupils return to school for face-to-face learning and as a result, schools will continue to make on-site provision available for vulnerable children and children of critical workers after the half-term break. KS2 pupils will continue their learning online and those KS2 pupils who currently have places in the hub will remain in the hub. Foundation phase pupils who are currently in the hub will return to their normal classes on the days that they are booked in the hub.
It is extremely important that we all continue to follow the guidance around hand-washing, social distancing and face coverings. Please remind your children and please continue to wear face coverings when dropping off and collecting your children, and please do not gather at the school gates and keep your distance from others – we cannot reiterate how important this is to reduce transmission within our communities.
It is also important to remember that a return to school is not a return to normal life, and children should not be mixing outside of the classroom environment. Please do not visit others houses, arrange sleepovers or parties. Anything where groups of adults and children are mixing. Schools will be kept under constant review taking into consideration the latest number of cases, the R number and the number of patients in hospital. An increase in transmission rates could result in schools closing again.
Please remember if you or your child or anyone else living in your household has any of the Covid-19 symptoms, you must immediately self-isolate and get tested. It is also important that you inform your school if your child tests positive. For all the latest information on schools including a comprehensive list of FAQs please visit our website carmarthenshire.gov.wales/education .
We would like to thank you once again for your all your co-operation and support during this time. We will be in touch later this week with the organisation of how the return to school for Reception, Y1 and Y2 pupils will be organised.
Many thanks
Don't forget everyone another collection of work packs from Bethania Chapel tomorrow:
Y1,2 = 11am -11.15am
Y3,4 = 11.15-11.30am
Y5,6 = 11.30am - 11.45am
You are all doing an amazing job of home schooling. We have seen so many of you online while the lessons are going on and in the background of the flipgrids that the children have recorded. Parents you should be proud of yourselves it's not easy we know!!!
This situation looks set to continue until after half term. It is really frustrating we appreciate but hang in there. Stay safe. Over the next couple of weeks we will contacting you if your child has not been accessing any of the work that we have been providing. This is to check what we can do to help. Please answer the phone during school hours as it will be the class teacher. Many thanks for all your support during this time. Stay safe everyone!!
Dear Parents, please note if you are key workers as identified on the Welsh government eligibility list : https://gov.wales/coronavirus-critical-key-workers-test...
then you must apply for your child's hub place at school before the end of the school day on Wednesday 13th January. This is a strict deadline. To apply for your place please email :admin@maesymorfa.ysgolccc.cymru with the names of your child/ren and details of where you work along with what your key worker status is. We will also require, before Friday 15th January, a letter from your employer on headed paper as proof that you are key worker.
PLEASE NOTE OUR HUBS HAVE RESTRICTED NUMBERS AS WE WANT TO KEEP OUR STAFF AND PUPILS AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE. PLEASE ONLY APPLY FOR A PLACE IF YOU HAVE NO OTHER OPTION. IF WE HAVE TO ASSIGN MORE STAFF TO HUBS THIS HAS AN IMPACT ON THE HOME LEARNING WE CAN PROVIDE TO EVERY PUPIL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
Dear Parents as you have probably heard on the news, schools are being asked to stay closed until Monday 18th January at least. This means that we will move to online learning from Thursday this week. You have all been given letters which indicate how your child will receive online learning and the passwords etc
We will be in touch with those parents who qualify for key worker status. Please understand that places in the hub are only available if both parents are categorised as key workers e.g Fire, Ambulance and Police, NHS staff, Residential care and nursing homes, social workers along with key council staff and teachers. If one parent does fall under these categories then the place will not be available. We need to limit numbers of staff and pupils in the building for everyone's safety. We will call you tomorrow if you qualify for a place in the hub. Please be aware that there is no school kitchen available so if your child is attending school they will require a packed lunch and a snack. If your child has free school meals then you will receive direct debit payments until we re-open.
Thank you for your understanding, as soon as we receive further updates we will let you know.
We did promise to update you all today but there have been some late meetings arranged with Welsh Government that the authority have to attend before making final decisions. We will post something as soon as we are informed late tomorrow morning. It may even be on the Welsh news tonight.
One thing that is very clear is that new pupils to school will not be able to attend until further notice. This refers to the new nursery intake as well as new starters in other year groups. We are so sorry but this is important given the current situation.
Many thanks

Dear parent / guardian
As you are aware, Welsh Government have confirmed that payments are to be made to pupils in receipt of Free School Meals during the following periods of time –
Payments are not being made for any other reason. We accept that there are other circumstances where pupils are absent from school, but the Welsh Government instructions are clear when payments can be made.
In terms of the processing of payments, they are being processed in batches to comply with audit requirements and this sometimes leads to families receiving payments at different times and delays in their receipt. We respectfully ask you to be patient and assure you that we are working as quickly as possible to complete all payments due.
